A Local’s Travel Guide to the Real Ibiza
When my parents moved to Ibiza over 10 years ago, I was shocked as to why they thought a party island would be a good fit for their retirement. However, through countless visits year-round, I quickly uncovered the side of the island that tourists rarely get to see. Beyond its vibrant nightlife lies a deeply tranquil, authentic, and naturally luxurious haven that has reshaped how I see the island. Take a look at my local recommendations in the travel guide below.
Day 1: East Coast Exploring

Kick off your trip shaking off travel fatigue with an 8:45 AM morning yoga session and organic breakfast at Amante, set right above the lapping waves.
Spend the rest of your day in the sun with three great options:
-
Surf vibes at Cala Nova with lunch at Atzaró Beach
-
Raw, rugged charm at Cala Mastella for legendary seafood at El Bigotes (booking required)
-
Pure relaxation with a luxury day-bed pass at Atzaró Spa (€90 food credit included)
Wrap up your afternoon with a relaxed stroll through the cobblestone alleys of Ibiza Town for local boutiques and ice cream before an early evening unwind.

Day 2: Island Hopping to Formentera
No trip to Ibiza is complete without a day trip to Formentera, easily reached via a 35-minute ferry or private yacht charter.
For vibrant beach dining and great sangria, head to Ses Canyes and grab a table at Chezz Gerdi. If you prefer idyllic, world-class coastlines, head straight to Ses Illetes by renting a bicycle right from the port for a scenic ride. Spend the afternoon swimming in crystal-clear waters before catching an evening ferry back to Ibiza.
Day 3: Legendary Las dalias

Take a slow morning around the pool before exploring the charming inland village of Santa Gertrudis. Wander through the independent boutiques and grab an artisanal scoop from Vivi’s Creamery.
In the late afternoon, head to Las Dalias Night Market in San Carlos to browse over 300 artisan stalls selling handmade jewelry, fashion, and homewares. Enjoy a relaxed dinner on-site amidst the live music and hippy-chic ambiance before heading home.

Day 4: Pacha night life
Spend a refined beach day on the southwest coast at Cala Jondal, booking a sunbed and a long, lazy lunch at Casa Jondal - the Iberian ham and grilled lamb chops are standout menu highlights.
Rest up in the late afternoon because tonight is all about experiencing Ibiza’s iconic nightlife at Pacha. Insider tip: Headliners don't take the stage until 3:00 AM or 4:00 AM, so enjoy pre-dinner drinks at your hotel before heading out late to avoid the early club rush and steep bar prices.
Day 5: Es Vedra & Old town

Use your final day to customise your ultimate Ibizan finale:
-
Drive down to Cala d'Hort for fresh paella with unbeatable views of the mystical Es Vedrà rock formation,
-
Return to Ibiza Town to browse high-end fashion at Annie’s Ibiza and grab fresh tacos at TKO.
-
If it’s a Sunday, round out your trip at Benirràs Beach to experience the famous sunset drumming ritual. Just be sure to take a taxi or arrive early in the afternoon, as parking fills up fast.
